Consultation on Reforming the Manufactured Home Residential Parks Act and Regulations
Dear Members Tuesday 16 May 2023 On Monday 15th May 2023 the Queensland Government took an important next step in fulfilling the commitment they made in the Qld. Housing and Action Plan 2021-25 to address the concerns of home owners in manufactured home residential parks about site rent increases and sale of homes They launched what is called a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement (C-RIS) and called for comments and feedback from home owners and other stakeholders on it. This is the second stage in the reform process. Members will recall that in June last year the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy published an Issues Paper and undertook a survey of residents in parks. In the C-RIS which has now been published, proposals of options for changes that can be taken to amend the Manufactured Homes Act and Regulations are outlined. In the third stage of the process a Decision Regulatory Impact Statement (D-RIS) will be prepared, which will have recommendations about any proposed changes to the regulatory framework that take into account the feedback received on the Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement. It is expected that the Decision Regulatory Impact Statement will be released to the public along with information about the next steps for regulatory change. Click HERE to read a Summary Version of the C-RIS Click HERE to read the full C-RIS The Summary Version has been written with a view to giving most home owners enough information to be able to comment and give feedback to the Department on the various options for action included in the C-RIS. The full version is long and contains all of the detailed analysis of the implication of each option required in documents of this kind. QMHOA hopes that as many of our members and other home owners as possible make comments and give feed back to the Department on the options for improvements to site rent increases and sale of homes that are regulated under the Act.
